Terms of Service

Terms & conditions for Word to Week

These Terms of Service govern your use of the Word to Week web portal and mobile app. By using our Service, you agree to be bound by these terms.

1. Agreement to terms

By accessing or using the Word to Week web portal or mobile app ("Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service. If you are using the Service on behalf of a church or organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization to these Terms.

2. Description of service

Word to Week is a church engagement platform that helps churches transform sermon notes into daily devotional messages for their members. The web portal is used by churches and authorized staff to upload sermon notes, generate weekly devotional content using AI-assisted tools, review and edit drafts, manage church profiles, and publish weekly feeds. The mobile app is used by church members to subscribe to a church feed, receive daily devotional messages, and engage with published content, including optional likes and reflections where those features are available.

3. Account registration

To use the web portal, you must create an account with a valid email address and password. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. You must notify us promptly of any unauthorized use.

Churches must complete an onboarding process and may be required to select a subscription plan to access certain features. You represent that all information provided during registration and onboarding is accurate and current.

4. Church accounts and multi-tenant access

Each church operates within its own tenant space on the platform. Church administrators may invite staff members to collaborate within their church account. The church administrator who created the account is responsible for managing access and permissions for their church's staff users.

Churches are responsible for the content they upload, generate, edit, and publish through the Service, including sermon notes and devotional messages.

5. Subscription plans and billing

Certain features of the Service require a paid subscription. Subscription plans are tiered based on church size and are billed through Stripe. By subscribing to a paid plan, you agree to pay all applicable fees.

New churches may receive a trial period. At the end of the trial, continued access to paid features requires selecting a subscription plan. Subscriptions are billed on a recurring basis. You may cancel your subscription at any time through your account settings or the Stripe billing portal. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. No refunds are provided for partial billing periods.

We may change subscription pricing with reasonable notice. Continued use of the Service after a price change constitutes acceptance of the new pricing.

6. Content and intellectual property

You retain ownership of all content you upload, create, or publish through the Service, including sermon notes, edited devotional messages, church profile information, logos, and reflections you choose to submit. By using the Service, you grant Word to Week a limited, non-exclusive license to store, process, display, moderate, and distribute your content solely as necessary to operate and provide the Service.

The Service uses AI tools to generate devotional message drafts from sermon notes. AI-generated drafts are provided as starting points for review and editing by church staff. Churches are responsible for reviewing, editing, and approving all content before publication. Word to Week does not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or theological correctness of AI-generated content.

The Word to Week name, logo, design, and platform software are the property of Word to Week. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works from our platform or branding without prior written permission.

7. Acceptable use

You agree not to use the Service for any unlawful purpose; upload or distribute content that is defamatory, obscene, threatening, harassing, abusive, or that infringes on the rights of others; submit reflections or other content that is unsafe or inappropriate for the church context; attempt to gain unauthorized access to other accounts or infrastructure; interfere with or disrupt the operation of the Service; use the Service to send unsolicited messages or spam; resell or commercially redistribute access without authorization; or misrepresent your identity or church affiliation.

8. Mobile app terms

The Word to Week mobile app may be distributed through the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. Your use of the app is also subject to the terms and policies of the relevant app store. The app may request device permissions such as notifications and camera access for QR code scanning, which you may accept or decline. Some features may not function without certain permissions.

The app uses anonymous authentication for member accounts. Members subscribe to one church feed at a time. Content is cached locally on your device for performance and offline access.

9. Push notifications

If you enable push notifications in the mobile app, you consent to receiving scheduled devotional message reminders and other service-related notifications. You may disable notifications at any time through your device settings or app preferences.

10. Member reflections and interactions

If the Service allows members to submit reflections, likes, or similar interactions, you are responsible for the content you submit. Reflections may be visible to other subscribed members of the same church for the relevant published message and may also be visible to authorized church staff. We may use automated or manual moderation measures to review submitted reflections and may refuse, limit, or remove content that violates these Terms or presents a safety risk.

11. Privacy

Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which describes how we collect, use, and share your information. By using the Service, you acknowledge that you have read and understood our Privacy Policy.

12. Availability and modifications

We strive to keep the Service available and reliable, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time, with or without notice. We are not liable for any modification, suspension, or discontinuation of the Service.

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will post the updated version on this page and update the effective date. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

13. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory. We disclaim all warranties, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

We do not warrant that AI-generated content will be accurate, complete, theologically sound, or suitable for any particular purpose. Churches bear sole responsibility for reviewing and approving all content before publication to their members.

14. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Word to Week and its officers, directors, employees, and agents shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of data, loss of revenue, or loss of goodwill, arising out of or related to your use of the Service.

Our total aggregate liability for all claims arising out of or related to these Terms or the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid to us in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim.

15. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Word to Week, its affiliates, officers, directors, employees, and agents from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable attorney fees) arising out of or related to your use of the Service, your content, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any rights of a third party.

16. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time if you violate these Terms or for any other reason at our discretion, with or without notice. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately. You may terminate your account at any time by contacting us through our support page.

17. Governing law and disputes

These Terms shall be governed by the laws stated in any order form, checkout terms, or other written service agreement between you and Word to Week. If no such law is stated, the laws of the place from which Word to Week principally operates will apply, excluding conflict-of-law rules. The parties will first attempt to resolve disputes through good-faith discussion. If a dispute cannot be resolved informally, either party may pursue available legal remedies in a court or other forum permitted by applicable law and any written service agreement.

18. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision shall be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.

19. Entire agreement

These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and any subscription or billing terms presented during checkout, constitute the entire agreement between you and Word to Week regarding the Service and supersede all prior agreements and understandings.

20. Contact
